Opportunities

In July 2023 I will be joining the faculty of the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology Department at Yale, where I will be affiliated with the Yale Center for Natural Carbon Capture. I am open to recruiting a graduate student who would start in August 2023.

Prospective graduate students (applying Fall 2022): If you think you might be interested in joining my lab in 2023, please email me before November 23rd so that we can determine if our research interests align. In your email, include brief statements describing (1) your research interests; (2) your academic background; and (3) why you are interested in joining my lab specifically. Yale’s application deadline is December 1st 2022. Detailed instructions and advice for applying to Yale EEB are available here.

Prospective graduate students (future years): It is never too early to start a conversation if you are thinking about enrolling in a PhD program—feel free to email me if you are interested in applying in 2023. I encourage prospective students to apply to graduate fellowships (e.g., the NSF GRFP or USDA NIFA fellowships), and can advise you regarding fellowship applications given sufficient time (4-6 weeks) before the application deadline.

Postdocs: Please email me with a description of your research interests and a CV if you are interested in joining my lab. I can help you apply to a range of external postdoc fellowship opportunities (e.g., NOAA, USDA NIFA, NSF, and Ford Foundation fellowships). and Yale-specific fellowships (the YIBS and YCNCC postdoc fellowships).

Undergraduates: I won’t be teaching classes at Yale until next year (topics TBD) and don’t yet have any specifics to offer yet about undergraduate research opportunities. Stay tuned!
